History of The Old House Inn
The Old House is one of the oldest pubs in Wales
dating back to approximately 1147AD, with it’s
thatched roof it has to be one of the most visited
pubs in the country.
It is steeped in history and
was once the calling place of William Hopkin,
a local Baird who was involved in that very famous
love story “The Maid of Cefn Ydfa”.
It is rumoured that Will Hopkin wrote the famous
song “Buegilo Gwyneth Gwyn” from the
upstairs room in The Old House and even to this
day this room is known as “Wills Room”.
